A day of nothing but sunshine and fun

08 May 2016

I know I'm going to jinx things by saying it but it would appear that the summer or at the very least warmer weather is on its way.

Today we have been blessed with temperatures as high as 21ºc, which for this part of the UK is a rare thing especially at this time of year.

All this sunshine has given me the opportunity to tidy the garden, cut the lawns and even squeeze in a quick 7 miler on the bike. Not to mention letting the kitten have the longest run around outside that he has ever had.

My daughter hasn't stopped running round like a crazy thing with her friends all afternoon, getting up to all kinds of mischief, so all in all it has been an amazing day.

Now it is time to kick back relax and have a nice cold beer.

I'm becoming addicted to fitness tracking

06 May 2016

Over the past few months I've been playing around with fitness trackers of various types, and I've got to say I'm now completely hooked on my health metrics.

This slippery slope started when I got the Moto 360 and started to take notice of my heart rate and steps, since then I've tried the Microsoft Band 2 which I loved but found a little too chunky. Most recently I've been using the Jawbone UP3, which unless something else comes along, will be my weapon of choice moving forward.

It is strange how addictive checking your heart rate, steps and sleep patterns can become but also how useful the data is, when it comes to trying to stay in shape.

So I bought a Basics wallet

05 May 2016

Finally, after a week or so of tracking as it made its way from California to the UK, my Basics wallet finally arrived and I really like it.

Basics have done an excellent job with the design it's simple functional and considering how much it can hold its really compact.

If you don't like to carry a large wallet in your pocket or don't have a lot of room in your bag then I can definitely recommend it.

Ever had one of those weeks?

25 January 2016

So I started the week with a stinking cold which in turn developed into dizziness and vomiting, this then progressed to crippling headache and stabbing pain in the ear. After a couple of days of this I gave up and went to see the G.P. the diagnosis was that I had a ear infection which was the cause of the dizziness and vomiting. Fear not antibiotics would be the miracle cure, or not as it would turn out, cue a pain below my rib cage that felt like I’d been used as a punch bag.

After Googling my symptoms and dismissing pancreatitis, liver disease and pregnancy as the cause I looked up the side effects of the antibiotics and sure enough there were my symptoms. So back to the G.P. I went this morning to see what could be done and apparently for all the pain they have caused the antibiotics have done the trick and the swelling in my ear has reduced and can be managed by good old paracetamol from here on in, and the abdominal pain should ease within 24 hours of stopping taking the antibiotics.

Lets hope this week will be a better one.
